8 Hammer 1371

Father,

It has been awhile since I last wrote to you. My travels have kept me busy. Since my last letter, I traveled with a small caravan from Tethyamarside to Dagger Falls. We arrived safely on the 1st of Hammer without much incident. I was there for only a short while when I came upon a strange but delightful fellow named Cedar. His mannerisms and dress distinctly stated his interests in the magical arts. The smells of spell components reminded me of mother. On that subject, I regretfully must report that I have not found any new information. I am beginning to wonder if it has been too long since her passing. Only this bracelet and her memory keep me going. Later that day, we met up with the rest of my current skillful companions:

  • Shane Highhill - a very cheerful yet antagonizing halfling monk (with an uncanny habit of killing things with his hands and feet).
  • Aramil - our resident light-fingered elven sneak.
  • Kerith - a half-elven bard (who has the incredible gift of long-winded song).
  • Cedric - a heavy-footed yet skillful Priestess of Corellon Larethian (don't ask me why she has a man's name).
  • Oskar Bladebright - a stern and stubborn shield Dwarf Paladin (who by the way, learned the hard way that heavy metal and fast moving streams don't mix).

A local elderly mage by the name of Peraus Wands has agreed to "guide" us through our early adventuring days. In return, we have agreed to help him tie up some loose ends from his adventuring past. We have since taken on two quests:

  1. To retrieve a cache of telstang metal from an old dwarf hold for the local dwarven weapon smith - Gadlyn Bladebright.
  2. To find a missing shipment for a shop owner by the name of Taberin.

Well father to make things short we have since survived 12 drunken goblins, 2 wolves, a white dragon wyrmling, and 5 gargoyle-like creatures. We have also located the telstang metal. I am writing to you from inside a secrete room within the dwarven hold. The skills you have taught me as a ranger have served me and my comrades well. My duty is to serve and protect this group. I just hope I am of better use to them then I was to you and mother on the night she was murdered.

Your Son, Xan
