What Can I learn from a Spellcraft check?

In general, Spellcraft checks allow the character to identify spells and magical effects as they are cast or already in place. A specialist wizard gets a +2 bonus when dealing with a spell or effect from a specialized school and a –5 penalty on effects from a prohibited school. There is a possible synergy bonus from 5+ ranks in Use Magic Device when trying to decipher spells on scrolls.
